
Placing Flags at Local Cemeteries
A few weeks before Memorial Day, member of the Legion, Sons of the Legion and the Legion Auxiliary decorate the graves of veterans in local cemeteries by placing American flags in the armed forces grave markers.
Memorial Day Services
On Memorial Day weekend, members of local American Legions along with the Sons of the Legion, Legion Auxiliary, and the color guard conduct services at four local cemeteries. A wreath is places at a prominent grave of a veteran, a prayer is recited, and a 21-gun salute is offered before a bugle player performs "Taps". Following the services, the Morrison-Ritchie Post hosts a luncheon for all who participated in the services.
Fireman's Fair
During July, the Finleyville Volunteer Fire Department hosts a Fireman's Fair. Morrison-Ritchie Post members serve as the Color Guard in the parade and help to run a booth at the fair to raise funds for the all-volunteer fire department.
Veterans Day Parade
In November, Morrison-Ritchie Legionnaires march in the Veterans Day parade in the host town in the Monongahela Valley.
Christmas Toy Campaign
In December, the Morrison-Ritchie Post conducts a Christmas Toy Campaign for needy families in the area.
